As a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, Vicki has a masters degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. Vicki has worked in the counselling, assessment, and the mental health field for over 20 years and she has lived in the Peace Region for over 17 years.
Vicki is a trained EMDR therapist at the advance level and has extensive professional experience and professional development in providing treatment for trauma related reactions. In addition, she has received training in couple therapy utilizing the Gottman Couple Therapy approach and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. When supporting others through the change process she utilizes a client-centered approach with an integration of attachment, relational, neurobiological, and strength-based perspectives.
Vicki is also registered as a Yoga Teacher 200-hr with Yoga Alliance. She is trained in Integrative Yoga Therapy; a style of Yoga that draws attention to the therapeutic value of postures and movement. She believes that the mind and body share experiences and, as a result, often our nervous system, emotions and mind become disregulated leading to experiences of depression, anxiety, and emotional imbalance. The practice of mindful movement and postural awareness can be utilized within a psychological framework for the purpose of emotional, mental and physical relief.
